“SKIMS Conducts First of its Kind Live Workshop on “Endovascular Aortic Repair (EVAR) for Aneurysm of Thoracic Aorta”

Srinagar, July 29:  Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery (CVTS) SKIMS conducted a major Live workshop on 3 patients on “Endovascular Aortic Repair (EVAR) of Complex Aneurysms of Thoracic Aorta” . Three patients with complex cardiac issues  admitted in SKIMS  were treated by Endovascular techniques (Stent Grafts ) during the Live Workshop which was conducted by the department of CVTS in  Collaboration with Department of Radiology, SKIMS and Narayana Hrudayalaya, Hospital, Bangalore. Prof. Saraub Rai from Narayana, Hospital, Prof G.N.Lone CVTS SKIMS , Dr. Farooq Ahmad Ganie CVTS SKIMS, Dr. Tahlil, Prof. Feroze Shaheen, Dr. Haroon Rashid, Dr. Hidayat, Dr, Sahil, Dr. Mohsin, Dr. Abid, Dr.Mudasir and Dr. Naiem coordinated the Workshop.

HOD CVTS informed that all the three patients were successfully treated by Endovascular Technique at a cost which was much lower and 1/3 of the cost incurred in Cardiac centers of the country. All the 3 patients are doing fine and will be discharged within a couple of days. He  added that the workshop was successfully conducted and  appreciate everyone for their active participation in the workshop and thanked Anaesthesia team for their support.
