DC Ganderbal tours town; inspects various developmental works

Flags-off fleet of hoppers from Municipal Office

Ganderbal, July 29: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir today took an extensive tour of the main town along with President of Municipal Council Ganderbal, Hilal Ahmad Tantray and inspected various ongoing development projects/works.

During the visit, the DC inspected the work progress on Bus Adda near SSP Office, Marriage Hall at Duderhama, face lifting of Spring at Jama Masjid Duderhama, Clock Tower, Children Park at Fatehpora and e-waste centre.

At Bus Adda, the DC inspected the progress of various ongoing works like Municipal Council Office complex, cafeteria, development of site for open gym and Children Park, status of macadamization and other related works.

EO Municipal Council briefed the DC about the status of various ongoing works of Buss Adda coming up at the cost of Rs 9.72 crore and expenditure made to the tune of Rs 5.70 crore till date.

The DC gave necessary instructions to the EO and Ex. Engineer R&B for taking necessary measures with regard to beautification of Bus Adda including development of green patches, macadamization, face lifting and fencing.

He also visited the proposed site for Open Gym and Children Park behind the Bus Adda which is being developed at the cost of Rs 1 crore. He gave necessary directions for leveling and demarcation of proposed land on an immediate basis.

While visiting the site of a marriage hall at Duderhama which has been approved at the cost of Rs 4.5 crore, the Ex. Engineer R&B briefed the DC about work progress and layout plan for which he was directed to expedite the work progress so that it gets completed within the stipulated time frame.

Meanwhile, the DC also inspected the progress on construction of clock tower coming up at Duderhama Chowk which is approved at the cost of Rs 30 lakh and children park at Fathepora approved at the cost of Rs 40 lakh and e-waste centre approved at the cost of Rs 12 lakh.

The DC directed the EO to ensure regular monitoring of all ongoing works so that they get completed on time.

Later, the DC along with President Municipal Council Ganderbal flagged-off 8 hoppers from the Municipal Council Office which shall collect waste from different wards of the town.

During the visit, the DC was accompanied by Executive Officer Municipal Council Ganderbal, Naveed Ajaz, Executive Engineer R&B, Tehsildar Ganderbal and other concerned officials of R&B and Municipal Council.
