DNS Not Available in PHC in Kulgam Village, Patients Suffer; Allege Locals

Appeal LG Sinha, DC Kulgam to personally intervene

Kulgam, July 21 : In a shocking development, Dextrose Normal Saline (DNS) was not available in a primary health center (PHC) at Nehama area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, thereby making patients suffer.

A local told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that DNS was not available at the government hospital, forcing him to buy it from a medical shop.

“My sister was not feeling well and I went to PHC Nehama, while doctors asked for DNS, But to utter surprise the same was not available in the hospital,” he alleged.

He said due to non-availability of DNS at the health facility, he the bought it from a nearby medical shop.

“The village is well known as it lies on the boundry of Shopian- Kulgam and people from many areas visit this health facility, so thisPHC is having the load of sub district hospital,” locals said.

Meanwhile, locals appealed to the Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and DC Kulgam to personally look into the matter so that people heave a sign of relief.

Despite repeated attempts neither Chief Medical Officer nor Block Medical Officer Kulgam respond to calls from this reporter.
