Kargil Vijay Diwas : Ultra-Distance Runner Ms Sufiya Sufi

Srinagar, July 18:To celebrate the 23rd Kargil Vijay Diwas, Indian ultra-distance runner Sufiya Sufi, in association with Indian Army, is doing a Tribute run to pay homage to the Kargil War Bravehearts. The 470 Kilometers long run was flagged-off on 17 July from Siachen War Memorial (Base Camp).

It will culminate on 23 July at the Kargil War Memorial, Dras. Sufiya, accompanied by her support team, will tackle the tough terrain including some of the highest passes of the world and hostile climatic conditions of Ladakh. Sufiya is a world record holding professional ultra-marathon & long-distance runner from district Ajmer, Rajasthan.

She has achieved three world records for India in ultra-distance running viz, the World Record of fastest 4000 Kilometers run from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, fastest run of 6000 Kilometers (The Indian Golden Quadrilateral Road Run Challenge) and fastest run of 480 Kilometers on world’s toughest route from Manali to Leh.
