Jammu Forest Division starts ‘Har Gaon Haryali’, ‘Ped Lagao Beti Ke Naam’ campaigns for greening of villages

Jammu, July 13: In the ongoing Monsoon Season, Jammu Forest Division has started the initiative of greening of each village Panchayat under the campaign ‘Har Gaon Haryali’.

As part of this drive, which began on July 8th, Haryali Mahotsava was organized at village Raika during which ceremonial plantation was held.

The tree plantation drive was conducted with an aim of contributing to the Green Drive of our country, fighting against global warming and thereby reducing its impact on climate change and ultimately presenting a better environment for the next generation.

The Forest department is encouraging the locals to do the same so that a large number of saplings can be locally planted for increasing the green cover.

Divisional Forest Officer, Jammu, Anup Kumar Soni, during the drive urged the resident of Jammu districts to support the campaign of the Forest department ‘Har Gaon Haryali’ & ‘Ped Lagao Beti ke Naam’. He highlighted that the J&K Forest Department is providing free saplings of local species and Seed Balls to villagers who shall come forward in large number to support the cause of Green Jammu. He added that each grown up tree provides free oxygen, water and multiple health benefits to the surrounding and we can not put a price tag on such ecosystem services.

During the drive, the DFO informed the locals that the Range officers Rakeshwar Rana (Bahu Range) Amir Raza (Jammu Range), Pawan Sharma (Kalidhar Range) & Khushal Singh ( Jindrah Range) may be contacted for plantation drives.

Under the drive from past week, Jammu Forest Division has planted more than 70,000 saplings in villages like Panchayat Nagrota, Panjgrain, Manani, Sumah, Simbal Lehar, Jagti, Tarah, Jindrah, Mansar, Sail Kori Ber, Kachrial, Gundla, Marh, Khour, Sanori, Bhatti Barigarh, Bhardal, Juthal, Gurha Brahmana, Sungal, Domail, Nathal, Panjgrain Akhnoor and others in presence of members of Panchayti Raj Institutions, Army/ Security Forces and local people.
