Samoon, Shailendra review progress on construction of new polytechnic colleges

“Direct for completion of all colleges within the set deadlines”

Srinagar, July 5: Principal Secretary Skill Development Department (SDD), Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon and Principal Secretary PWD (R&B) Shailendra Kumar today chaired a joint meeting at Civil Secretariat here to review the progress on construction of new Polytechnic Colleges across J&K besides other issues of the department were also discussed in detail.

The meeting was attended by Special Secretary SDD, Development Commissioner Works, Managing Director, JKPCC, Chief Engineer, R&B, Jammu/ Kashmir along with Executive Engineer concerned, , all concerned Principals of Government Polytechnics and other officers. Outstation officers attended the meeting through video conferencing.

Threadbare discussion was held on various issues pertaining to Skill Development Department including completion of ongoing works of New Polytechnics taken up under CSS, completion of abandoned works of erstwhile Engineering wing of DSD.

The Principal Secretary directed the concerned officers that the ongoing construction works on all the Polytechnic Colleges should be completed within the stipulated time frame so that the buildings can be dedicated to the students for start of class work. He took detailed report from the concerned agencies about the progress of construction on each polytechnic college and set deadlines for the same.

Dr. Samoon also emphasized on timely placement of machinery and other equipments in the newly constructed colleges and directed the officers of SDD to work in mission mode so that class work for new batches of students can be started timely in the new colleges.

He further directed the concerned to personally monitor the delivery as well as the installation of equipments and machinery required at these new colleges.

While asking the officers for proper utilisation of funds, Dr Samoon emphasised upon the officers to ensure that the funds are utilised on assigned works besides quality of work should be maintained in all respects. He also directed the concerned officers to make proper provisions for water and electricity in the polytechnic colleges.

Principal Secretary, PWD (R&B) while speaking on the occasion emphasized upon the officers to work in a coordinated manner so that all the projects are completed within the set timelines. It was given out in the meeting that the work on the new polytechnic colleges is going on smoothly and they will be completed within the set deadlines.
