Sand Extractor Drowns to Death in Bijbehara

Srinagar, July 1 : A sand extractor died after drowning in river Jhelum in Bijbehara of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district this afternoon.

Reports reaching GNS that one Khalil Ahmad Chohan, son of Ab Raheem, resident of Tanghard Hiller Arhama Kokernag drowned in the river during extraction of sand. Soon after, the locals and police launched efforts to rescue the drowned person and later on retrieved him in an unconscious state. He was taken to a nearby health facility, where the doctors declared him as brought dead on arrival.

Confirming the incident, a police official told GNS that the body would be handed over to family after necessary medico-legal formalities.
