YSS Organizes Inter Zonal Cricket, Chess & Sports Quiz Activities

Kupwara, June 24: In an endeavour to promote sports activities and to follow the annual calendar of activities framed by the Department of Youth Services & Sports J&K in letter and spirit, the Department of Youth Services and Sports carried out Inter Zonal District level competitions in the disciples of Sports Quiz and Chess at Govt Degree College for women Sulkoot here. The competitions were organized for Girls of all age groups (AAG) on 22nd and 23rd of the current month respectively. In both the programmes/competitions students from all the zones of the District participated with enthusiasm and displayed sportsmanship spirit. Pertinently these competitions are being carried out to provide an opportunity to the girl student players to hone and groom their hidden talent in the respective disciplines. District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kupwara Jatinder Singh while sharing his views with the participants highlighted the importance of games and passed-on good wishes to the participants for exhibiting discipline during the course of the programmes. At the culmination of the events prize distribution ceremony was also held. The winners were appreciated and the lesser performers were encouraged.

Simultaneously sports events are in full swing at different districts of the winter capital of the UT. District level Inter-zonal competitions for U-19 age group student players of the district were inaugurated at sports stadium Doda. District Youth Services & Sports Office Doda Jaffer Haider Sheikh declared the tournament open in the presence of field staff of the Department. DYSSO advised the players to play the game for the sake of the game. The student players drawn from 9 zones of District Doda are participating in Inter zonal District Level Competitions in the discipline of Cricket Under-19.

In this tournament about 130 students are participating. The selected players will participate at Divisional level inter-district competitions.
