Srinagar, June 23:A two day workshop for Srinagar Municipal Councillors Finance today concluded.

The workshop which aimed at focusing on the basic understanding of the budget and its characteristics was organised in Collaboration with SMC and Praja Foundation.
Deputy Mayor Parvez Ahmed Qadri who formally gave welcome address on the occasion said this two day workshop will be highly beneficial for everyone and by sharing the experiences of the Facilitators from Praja foundation who had come with working experience from renowned and reputed organisations and Municipal Corporations across India will help in empowering the Corporators and the officials as well to take development way forward and help in learning and exploring various initiatives in making Municipal Corporation sufficient in revenue generation.

The two day workshop reflected the importance of budget and how it will effect the development of the city on a broader policy level.
The emphasis was laid on self sufficiency as how to make Municipal Corporation financially sufficient and also to know the sources of revenue generation including grants, devolution Capex etc and the proper expenditure and utilization of budget.
Prashant Pisolkar formal Municipal Chief Auditor, BMC Mumbai,r Ravi Kant Joshi consultant to World Bank,VN Alok IIPA, Delhi held different sessions on different topics including various stages of Budget implementation and threw light broadly also on the topics like statutory provision for budget, Income sources- Tax, Non tax, Grants Borrowing, Municipal bonds.
Besides Corporators, Senior SMC Officers including Joint Commissioner Administration, Riyaz Ahmed Shah, Joint Commissioner, Syed Abul Qasim’ Joint Commissioner Works Rajinder Singh, Secretary SMC Mudasir Chaudhary and others attended the workshop.
