Journalist targeted in Greece bomb attack

Athens, June 14 :An improvised explosive device exploded early Tuesday in Athens at the house of journalist Aris Portosalte, Greek broadcaster Skai reported.

The incident took place at around 3 am local time. There were several IEDs, but only three exploded. The blast damaged the entrance to the building and caused a small fire, said Skai, where Portosalte works.

“The tragedy is that we have terrorism. Unfortunately, we have terrorism in Greece,” Portosalte said on TV.

According to the journalist, seven other families share the residential building he lives in.
This attack is not the first one, in 2020, Portosalte’s home was attacked by vandals of the Rouvikonas (Rubicon) anarchist group, who spray-painted slogans on the walls, calling him a Nazi.

A similar assault occurred in February this year against another Greek journalist Dimitris Kampourakis and President of the Special Guard Vassilis Dumas.

Both the Skai channel and Portosalte are frequently criticized by the opposition for whitewashing the government and the ruling New Democracy party.
