Roads blocked in Central Delhi, Cong workers detained ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s ED hearing

New Delhi, June 13 : Several roads were blocked in Central Delhi and hundreds of Congress workers were detained on Monday ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s appearance before the Enforcement Directorate in the National Herald case.

Rahul Gandhi, along with Congress workers plans to march to the ED office from the Congress headquarters.

Ahead of the appearance, heavy police deployment was made in Central Delhi and all entries and exits from the Congress office were blocked.
Police have lined up several buses to detain protesting workers.

“Modi government has imposed an undeclared emergency in the whole Central Delhi area, hundreds of barricades have come up, thousands of Congress workers have been arrested overnight and the process is still going on. Thousands of police personnel have been deployed. Why? Is there any threat to Modi government,” asked chief Randeep Singh Surjewala.
Rahul Gandhi has been summoned by the ED to appear before it on June 13 in the National Herald case.

The Congress President Sonia Gandhi had been summoned by the ED on June 8, but she could not attend it as she is down with Covid. She was admitted to Ganga Ram hospital on Sunday for some Covid related issues, where her condition is said to be stable and she is under observation.
The Congress leaders have been summoned in the National Herald case. As per the complaint filed in the court of the Metropolitan Magistrate, Associated Journals Limited (AJL) took an interest-free loan of Rs 90.25 crore from Indian National Congress, which was not paid back.
