Srinagar, June 11 :On invitation of President of J&K Handicrafts Employees Union (JKHEU) (Technical Wing) Mohammad Suhaib Munshi , Mayor took an extensive tour of the Institute. He looked into multi fold aspect of the institute and especially the crafts museum, School of Designs which houses many artefacts depicting designs of different ages and cultures.
While expressing his thoughts about the artifacts, craft work present in the Craft Museum,
He admired the craftsmanship present in the institute viz a viz the role of the department as whole.
He threw light and mentioned some schemes and efforts of the department in helping out the artisan community, be Artisan loan, SHGs, societies etc.
He expressed about the inclusion of Srinagar city UNESCO Creative City list which has brought the crafts of Kashmir on global platform.
While talking about the overall working of School of Designs, Directorate of Handicrafts & Handloom, Kashmir, he expressed satisfaction and praised the role of the institute and department.
He further expressed his desire to look into the ways for more development of Craft Museum (School of Designs) through the Smart city and UNESCO.
