J&K: Fire breaks out at SMHS hospital

Srinagar, June 11: A minor fire broke out at the Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital on Saturday, however there were no casualties, officials said.

The fire incident created panic in the hospital forcing several patients to be shifted from their wards to safer places.
“It was a minor fire originating from an attached washroom of a surgical ward and it has been brought under control,” a hospital official said
“Patients are being shifted back to their wards,” he added.
A Fire and Emergency Service official said soon after they received a call about the fire incident several fire tenders were immediately pressed into service.
In March this year, a massive fire completely destroyed Kashmir’s only orthopedic hospital .
