DC Srinagar reviews promotion/ enablement of Digital receipts/ payments in District

Intensifying Digital India Mission priority of the Government: DC

Srinagar, June 7: With a view to implement and promote digital receipts/ payments and enhance financial inclusion through digital mode, a meeting of Officers of the line Departments was held today under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad at Meeting Hall of DC office Complex, here.

The meeting was held in wake of recent Government Order issued regarding promotion and enablement of Digital receipts/ payments under Digital India Mission in all Government Departments/ Agencies.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the Digital India programme is a flagship programme of the Government with a vision to transform India into a digitally empowered society and a digital economy. He said under the programme, the Government intends to promote digital payments and support development of low cost and easy to use digital payment solutions for all sections of the society.

 The DC further said that the promotion of digital payments is one of the prime focus areas of the Government enabling convenient digital payment modes throughout Jammu & Kashmir.  He asked all the Departments/ Agencies to shift to full-fledged Digital receipts/ payments and avoid cash transactions in any manner for the transactions undertaken by the Departments.

 The DC emphasised upon the officers to take immediate measures to switch over to Cashless and Faceless services across the District by implementing various modes of digital payments like Banking Cards, Mobile Wallets, Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, Point of Sale machines (PoS), Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) and Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD).

Earlier, the DC was given a department wise appraisal regarding the implementation of promotion and enablement of Digital receipts/ Payments under Digital India Mission.

Pertinent to mention that, as per the Government Order, all the Departments have been asked to raise awareness regarding digital payments, besides options shall be made available for Citizen to Government/Business to Government receipts such as payment of registration fee, water tax, licence fee, fines etc. through different digital modes of payments.

In addition, “all the dues as payable to the Government account in the revenue generating Departments shall only be made through digital payments and for the purpose QR Codes, UPI IDs, Account Numbers should be made readily available on the cash counters. While Hospital charges including registration, clinical and other examinations shall only be through digital payments,” reads the order.

The meeting was attended by Superintendent Engineers of R&B, PHE, Joint Director Planning, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, SDM East, Chief Agriculture Officer, District Health Officer, besides officers of Horticulture, Fisheries, Legal Metrology, Food Safety, District Mineral office and other Departments.
