PM to attend event on ‘Save Soil Movement’ on Sunday

New Delhi, June 4 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend a programme on ‘Save Soil Movement’ on the occasion of World Environment Day at Vigyan Bhawan here on Sunday.

He will also address the gathering during the programme.

‘Save Soil Movement’ is a global movement to increase awareness about deteriorating soil health and bring about a conscious response to improve it.

The movement was started by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, the founder of Isha Foundation in March this year, who embarked on a 100-day motorcycle journey passing through 27 countries. June 5 marks the 75th day of the 100-day journey, the PMO said.

The movement is aimed at addressing the soil crisis by bringing together people from around the world to stand up for Soil Health, and supporting leaders of all nations to institute national policies and actions toward increasing the organic content in cultivable Soil.

Prime Minister’s participation in the programme will be reflective of the shared concerns and commitment towards improving the health of soil in India, the PMO added.
