2 Punjab residents arrested with poppy straw on Jammu outskirts

Jammu, June 4 :Two residents of Punjab have been taken into custody along with contraband of poppy straw at Jhajjar Kotli here on the city outskirts.


Police said that acting on specific information that one passenger taxi on its way from Srinagar towards Jammu carrying a narcotic substance, a special check point was raised at Suketar.
“During search of the vehicle intercepted at a checkpoint, 42 Kgs 160 grams of Poppy straw was recovered from two passengers which was hidden in bags,” said police.


They said that the vehicle was seized and the passengers namely Yora Singh of Dholan, District Ludhiana, Punjab and Kulwinder Kour of Akbar Wala Ferozpur, Fatehghar, Punjab were arrested on the spot.


A case under NDPS Act was registered and investigation started.
