IUST-SKIMS ink MoU for academic cooperation

Awantipora, June 3: The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) to strengthen research and academic cooperation between the two institutes for the betterment of UT’s students and researchers. The MoU was signed by the Vice Chancellor of IUST Prof. Shakil A. Romshoo and Director SKIMS Prof. Parvaiz A. Koul.

Prof. Romshoo, the Vice-Chancellor of IUST, described the collaboration as very significant as it will entail mutual co-operation between the two institutes to address the needs of capacity building and professional development of graduates, post-graduates and doctoral students belonging to the streams of medicine, nursing, medical technology and allied fields who are pursuing their studies at either of the two institutions. He added that IUST will facilitate networking and assist in building meaningful alliances and consortia among academia working on important issues affecting people as well as link with national and international agencies for the benefit of students, faculty and society.

According to the statement, the MoU will help in the optimal and efficient use of resources and expertise, academic exchange, sharing of equipment and facilities, and infrastructure, as well as the collection of clinical samples, all of which will boost the research and academics in both the institutes. Furthermore, it will promote collaborative programs in mutually beneficial areas, mutual sharing of facilities such as high-end instruments, joint organisation of conferences and other outreach programs.
