Two JeM militants killed in Overnight gunfight in Awantipora: IGP Kashmir

Says One among the killed militant was involved in killing of a woman and a Peon

Srinagar, May 31:Two militants of Jaish-i-Muhammad outfit were killed in an overnight gunfight in Rajpora area of South Kashmir’s Awantipora on Tuesday, officials said.

On the behalf of IGP Kashmir, The Kashmir Police Zone wrote, ” Killed militants identified as Shahid Rather of Tral & Umar Yousuf of Shopian. Besides other militant crimes, militant Shahid was involved in killing of a woman Mst Shakeela of Aripal & a govt employee/ peon Javid Ahmed of Lurgam Tral,”.

The encounter had started at Rajpora on Monday between militants and security forces and was suspended for night due to darkness. With the first light of the day, encounter was resumed during which two JeM militants were killed.
