IUST organises Inter-Departmental Athletic Meet 2022

Awantipora May 31: To invigorate the sporting culture among the students, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) organised Inter-Departmental Athletic Meet 2022 on Tuesday at the Synthetic Athletic Track; the only ready to use athletic track in the UT of J&K. The event was organised by the Directorate of Physical Education IUST during which more than 50 athletes across various departments of the varsity participated.

Vice Chancellor IUST, Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo while inaugurating the meet lauded the efforts of Directorate of Physical Education for conducting the event and also appreciated the participants especially females for taking part in the athletic meet. While congratulating and encouraging all the participants, Prof. Romshoo said that such activities inculcate sports culture among the participants and the University will conduct such activities regularly for boosting the morale of students.

Prof. Romshoo said that the IUST is the First University in the UT of J&K that has the privilege of having this great asset and this has been possible with due support and encouragement from the government.

Registrar IUST Prof. Naseer Iqbal while delivering the introductory speech said that the track will be made more elegant in near future to attract sports lovers from all over the country.

Earlier Assistant Director, Physical Education, Dr. Hilal Ahmad Rather briefed about the event and thanked the University authorities for support and the Srinagar Athletic Association for deputing officials at the event. Dr. Hilal said that the University is going to organize the Inter-College Athletic Meet at this track very soon. Chairman Sports Committee, Mr. Sameer Wazir and other officials were present on the occasion.
