DLSA Gbl conducts Webinar to commemorate ‘International Labour Day’

Ganderbal, May 28: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal today conducted a webinar to observe “International Labour Day,” here.

The webinar was held under the directions and guidance of Tabasum, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal and was attended by Assistant Labour Commissioner Ganderbal, Officials of District Legal Services Authority, Panel Lawyers, PLVs and Law Students from Central University of Kashmir.

The proceedings of the programme was moderated by Assistant Labour Commissioner Ganderbal,  Advocate Sabrina Fayaz, Advocate Sheikh Imran was the Keynote Speaker.

Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Labour Commissioner Ganderbal said that 1st May is celebrated as International Labour Day all over the world. This is a day that marks the importance of labour in this world and assures the dignity of work for every profession. The day recognizes the labourer’s contribution and impresses upon us the need to respect and honour them.

He said that Labour law is concerned with the establishment of a labour-relations framework that provides peaceful industrial relations between labourers and organised workers. He enunciated the participants about different Acts and schemes under Building and construction Workers Act.

Speaking on the occasion, Advocate Sheikh Imran said that Labour Day is celebrated in the Country on Ist May every year. The objective of celebrating this day is to spread awareness about the rights and opportunities of every labourer which they should get for their welfare and betterment.

He elaborated various Labour Laws and stated that it is the area of law which signifies the relationship between a worker, trade union and government at large. It plays a major important role in protecting the rights of labour, their union, their wages, and moreover building a link between government and workers.

He further added information regarding different laws like Minimum Wages Act, Gratuity Act, Payment of Wages Act and other allied acts.
