Div Com reviews Kheer Bhawani Mela arrangements

Jammu, May 28:  Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar today chaired a meeting to review the arrangements for upcoming Mela Kheer Bhawani.

The meeting was attended by ADC Jammu, RTO Jammu, SP Traffic Jammu, Assistant Commissioner Relief, members of Mata Kheer Bhawani Committee, civil society members and officers from JMC, Tourism, Transport, Health while Deputy Commissioner Ramban attended the meeting through video conferencing.

A threadbare discussion was held regarding various arrangements. The major issues discussed in the meeting were transportation Facilities for devotees, security arrangements and others.

The Committee members informed about the requirements for smooth conduct of Yatra from Jammu to Mata Kheer Bhawani temple in Ganderbal district. It was informed that earlier the Yatra used to flag off on June 6 every year but this year the committee suggested starting the Yatra on June 5 so that the pilgrims attend religious Pooja and prayers on Mela Day on June 7.

The Yatra would be flagged off from Nagrota amid tight security. The Div Com directed the Assistant Relief Commissioner and JKRTC to deploy adequate number of buses to ferry the pilgrims to the temple.

He also issued directions for traffic regulation and foolproof security arrangements by deploying squad vehicles for the safety of the pilgrims.

The Tourism Department was asked to install hoardings for publicity of the Yatra.

He directed the Health Department to establish medical camps and make arrangements for Ambulances at Old toll plaza Nagrota.

The JMC was instructed to ensure sanitation at the venue and arrangement for mobile toilets.

The Div Com instructed DC Ramban to make Langer arrangements at the designated places along the National Highway, besides ensuring adequate number of mobile toilets and sanitation of langer sites.

The DC Ramban was also told to ensure that road clearance machinery was put in place in case of landslides or road closure.
