Srinagar, May 19 :Haqani Memorial Trust J & K organised a one Day Seminar at University of Kashmir about Famous Poet and Sufi Saint “Hazrat Mir Syed Azizullah Haqani (RA) – Life and Contribution” of Famous Sufi Saint, historian and Poet Hazrat Mir Syed Azizullah Haqani (RA)at Markarz-e- Noor University of Kashmir Srinagar in collaboration with the Sheikh ul centre for Multidisciplinary studies.
Noted scholars, writes and poets attended the seminar. In the first session Mahfil Naat was a held at Markaz-e-Noor in collaboration with Sahtiya Academy which was chaired by Sheikh Aijaz Mohmmad Sheikh professor and head Department of Urdu University of Kashmir. Noted poets Majeed Masroor, Hasrat Hafiz, Inayat Gul , Dr.Wahid Raza Bandroo presented their naats in the session. Convenor of Kashmir Advisory Board Sahtiya Akademi presented the inaugural session. Monograph entitled Pir Azizullah Haqani authored by Bashr Bashir and printed by Sahtiya Academy was released on the occasion .Haqani Memorial Awards were presented to distinguished personalities including Prof.Bashr Bashir, Moulana Showkat Hussain Keng,Prof.G.N.Khaki, Ajaz Kakroo, Shahbaz Hakbari, Abul Hassan Faruqi for their contribution in respective spheres. In the second session speakers Including Prof. Bashir Bashir, Moulana Showkat Hussain Keng, Prof.G.N.Khaki, Ajaz Kakroo, Shahbaz Hakbari, G M.Dar dealt at length various aspects of the noted scholar Mir Aziz ullah Haqani. His chief works were discussed and crirical analysis presented. Hardly has the 19th and 20th century J&K produced the great scholar like Haqani who contributed to kashmiri language and literature immensely . Though he is known for his writings in Naat, Mathnavi, Gazal, but he is yet to be discovered as a historian.
Chief contribution in the domain of history writing is Tawarikh Aalam comprising of five volumes. General Secretary Bashir Ahmad Dar while presenting vote of thanks reiterated the demand that various governmental departments and institutions should put in sincere efforts to preserve and arrange the printing of precious writing of this great writer.
