DAK condoles demise of Dr Muneer Masoodi

Srinagar, May 19: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Thursday held a condolence meeting at Government Medical College, Srinagar to mourn the sad demise of Dr Muneer Masoodi former head of the department of community medicine GMC Srinagar who breathed his last today at SMHS hospital after a brief illness. He was 69.

Paying rich tributes to the deceased, DAK members prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and expressed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.

Saddened over the death, President DAK Dr Nisar ul Hassan said it is a great loss to the medical fraternity and his death has resulted in a great void in the field of medicine.

“A medical luminary, Dr Masoodi graduated from GMC Srinagar and after completing his postgraduation joined GMC Srinagar and became head of the community medicine,” he said.

Dr Hassan said he was instrumental in shaping up the department of community medicine at GMC Srinagar.

“His contributions in the field of community medicine will be remembered for a long time,” he said.

“Currently, he was working as professor and head of community medicine at GMC Anantnag,” he added.

The DAK President said during his professional career he worked as Medical superintendant of SMHS hospital, Bone and Joint hospital and GB pant hospital.

“It was because of his immense managerial capabilities that the pristine glory of these hospitals was revived,” he said.

Terming the death as an irreparable loss, Dr Nisar said the medical fraternity has lost a gem of a person.

“Hailing from Duderhama area of Ganderbal, Dr Masoodi was a man of impeccable integrity. He will be sorely missed by everyone whose lives he touched,” he said.
