Two Hybrid militants arrested in Srinagar and Kulgam: Police

Srinagar May 1: Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested two Hybrid militants along with arms and ammunition from Srinagar and Kulgam district.

In a statement issued to GNS, the police said that on a specific input, Srinagar Police & Army (50 RR) arrested a hybrid militant namely Sheikh Sahid Gulzar of Muchhwa, Badgam from Nowgam, Srinagar. Incriminating material including Pistol & live ammunition was recovered from him. Case has been registered under relevant sections

Meanwhile, in a seperate statements issued to GNS, the police said that a specific information, Kulgam Police along with 34RR have arrested one hybrid militant of militant outfit LeT identified as Yamin Yousuf Bhat son of Mohd Yousuf Bhat resident of Gadihama.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested hybrid militant was in contact with Pakistan based militants as well as local militants of outfit LeT and was tasked to execute militant incident. He was also involved in providing shelter, logistics and other support to the militants includes transporting of arms/ammunition and explosive material of the militants in district Kulgam.

The police spokesman further stated that It is pertinent to mention that his arrest is an achievement for Police, as the said terrorist was well aware about the topography of the district and it was easy for him to choose soft targets.

Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition including 01 pistol, 01 pistol magazine, 51 rounds of 9mm and 02 hand grenades were recovered from his possession, he said.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 57/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kulgam and investigation has been initiated. More arrests and recoveries are expected in the instant case, reads the statement.
