Pr. Secy SDD inaugurates workshop block of ITI Srinagar

ITI Sgr to be developed as Model ITI: Dr. Samoon

Srinagar, April 27: Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department (SDD), Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon today inaugurated the workshop block of Second Campus of Government Industrial Training Institute, Srinagar at Zainakote here.

ADC, Srinagar, Faz Lul Haseeb; Principal ITI, Srinagar, Aneesa Parveen; Principal, ITI, Budgam, Deputy Secretary, SDD, other senior officers and large number of students were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering after inauguration, Dr. Samoon highlighted that due to technological innovations, there is need to optimally adopt required infrastructure at the institutes to enable the pass outs to compete in present fast growing industrial world. He added that the Srinagar ITI will be developed as a model ITI and the trades of modern need will be started at this institute.

Highlighting on the need for making the students self sufficient, Dr. Samoon asked the management of ITI Srinagar to arrange regular field visits for the students to different industrial houses so that they get practical knowledge of working there. He also emphasised on utilisation of CIIIT Baramulla for advanced training of ITI pass outs.

Remarking about the need for upgradation of teaching methods, the Principal Secretary emphasised upon the faculty of the ITI to upgrade themselves on regular basis with all types of modern advancements in the field of technical skilling so that the students are properly trained in their respective trades at the institute. He asked the principal ITI to develop coordination with Universities like IUST and KU or NIT Srinagar for training of faculty on modern lines.

Dr. Samoon further said that the post Covid world requires multi-tasking abilities for all citizens and technical institutions have a big role to play in making the people highly skilled. He added that NEP-2020 allows multi entry system in educational institutions, which will significantly improve the educational scenario here.

The Principal Secretary underlined that the Choice Based Credit System will be adopted in all technical institutions, which allows continuous evaluation of students. He added that CBCS will remarkably improve the system of education in technical institutions.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal ITI Srinagar said that the 15 trades of ITI Srinagar will be shifted to this second campus. She added that the institute has signed MoUs with 10 industrial units for skill upgradation of students as well as placement of passouts.

On the occasion, the Principal Secretary also distributed certificates among passouts of various courses and trades from departments like Jal Shakti and PDD.
