DC B’pora reviews irrigation facilities, power scenario of the district

Bandipora, April 27: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmad today reviewed irrigation/power scenario of the district in a meeting held at Mini Secretariat, here.

During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held about the status of desilting of canals, khuls and lift irrigation schemes. Directions were issued to concerned officers to ensure proper irrigation facilities in view of the forthcoming farming season and also keep adequate back up to meet any shortage.

He urged upon officers of line departments to advise people from time to time regarding discontinuity of essential service in view of maintenance or any other issue.

He exhorted upon the department to ensure that the farmers do not suffer due to shortage of irrigation water.

The DC stressed upon the concerned to ensure availability of DG sets at lift irrigation schemes for proper irrigation of land in case of non availibilty of electricity.

He directed to keep available tankers for drinking water in areas facing water scarcity.

Dr. Owais also requested public to ensure judicious use of electricity and to shun the unnecessary load till the backup supply is augmented by the Department.

He also asked the officers of PDD to ensure maximum possible power supply in the district and keep people aware about any shortages or disruptions.

The meeting was attended by Joint Director planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, Executive Engineer PDD, Executive Engineer PHE and other concerned. SDM sumbal, Dr Bashir Lone also attended the meeting via virtual mode.
