One day training Program on Post Harvest management, fruit processing held at Majalta

Udhampur, April 21: To benefit the fruit and vegetable growers, entrepreneurs and Cooperatives, a daylong training program on post harvest management was today organized at Panchayat Ghar Majalta, the other day.

The training session was organised by the department of Horticulture Planning & Marketing Udhampur in collaboration with the Cooperative department.

 As many as 15 female cooperative members and other stakeholders were imparted technical know-how vis-à-vis adding value to the waste and c-grade fruits & vegetables. The training aimed to empower the progressive farmers under the Atam Nirbhar Bharat campaign.

Dr. Neeraj Gupta, Assistant Professor Division of Food Sciences & Technology SKUAST Jammu was invited as a Training Resource Person. He trained the participants in the value addition of surplus agriculture to avoid its wastage.

 During the training program, Dr. Neeraj Gupta gave a demonstration on preparation of Pickles/ Jams and Tomato Purie with active participation of the participants.

Deputy Registrar cooperatives, Udhampur,  Nishtha Nayyar encouraged the participants to adopt the new techniques to become self-sufficient and double their agriculture income.

Area Marketing Officer Udhampur-Reasi,  Ashwani Kumar Sharma asked the beneficiary participants to establish processing units in the area under PM FME –ODOP scheme as there is an immense scope and potential for the same.

  Kamal Kishor, Marketing Inspector acquainted the participants about latest techniques of labelling & packaging of products which attracts the consumers. He further urged the farmers to switch to organic and integrated farming and grow exotic vegetables & fruits for remunerative earnings.

Ram Singh, Sarpanch Majalta and Panches thanked the twin departments for holding the practical training session in the area for the first time and applauded the initiatives as “Best One”.

 Later, the participants were awarded with Participation Certificates.
