Safeena Beigh distributes sanction letters of 23 Fish units under PMMSY in Baramulla

Baramulla, April 12: In order to boost the Fisheries Sector,  Fisheries  Department Baramulla today organised a function  at Dak Bungalow here during which 23 sanctioned letters of fish units were handed over to the fish farmers at a total subsidy of Rs. 46 Lacs under  Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY).

The function was held under the chairmanship of Chairperson District Development Council Baramulla, Safeena Beigh.

Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) was launched in September 2020 with an aim to double the income of fish farmers and fishers in the country. It focuses on sustainable development of India’s fisheries sector and is a part of the Atma Nirbhar Bharat scheme.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chairperson  said that Fisheries Department Baramulla is a large platform where a large number of youth across the district are getting benefit. She further said that the government should allocate more funds for the department so that the unemployed beneficiaries are benefitted at large.

On the occasion, the Chairperson urged the youth to come forward  to take benefits of the State and Centrally Sponsored welfare schemes meant for Socio-economic development.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Director Fisheries Department Baramulla Mohammad Shafi sought the need of mobile refrigerator Van  for marketing during which Chairperson DDC Baramulla assured that the matter will be discussed with higher authorities for its timely issuance.
