RMSA Teachers Stage Protest ;Demands Implementation of Court Orders

Srinagar, April 12 : Teachers appointed under centrally sponsored Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) scheme today staged a protest at Press colony Srinagar demanding reinstatement as per court orders.
The protestors joined by Jammu and Kashmir Reconciliation Front chairman, Sandeep Mawa said despite court directions and number of memorandums to government officials, nothing had been done to fulfill their demands so far.
While talking to reporters the protestors said that the High Court has directed the Education Department to renew the contracts of subject specific RMSA teachers but the officials are not implementing the directions. The contracts were terminated after the outbreak of COVID-19 in early 2020, but they were assured that once the schools reopen their contracts will be renewed.
Meanwhile, Mawa while speaking to media said that these teachers have been running from pillar to post to seek their reappointment in the Education Department. The minimum qualification for RMSA teachers was fixed as MA (Bed) and most of them are post-graduates and PHD holders.
“The schools where they were posted have become defunct due to their arrangement being terminated as their posts are lying vacant. Their contracts have been terminated without assigning any reasons. They are not seeking regularization they are only demanding that their contracts should be extended”,Mawa added.
The protestors urged concerned authorities to address their grievances at an earliest.
