DC B’pora visits Dairy & Food Processing Units in the district

Bandipora, April 9: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Saturday visited various units established by the Department of Animal Husbandry Bandipora under various Dairy and Poultry related schemes.

On the occasion, Dr Owais visited the Bulk Cooling Facility of JKMPCL Nadihal, Harmukh Dairy Farm, Insha Frozen Foods Nesbal, Salsabeel Paneer Making Unit Asha, and inspected the working of these units besides interacting with the owners.

At the Bulk Milk Cooling facility of JKMPCL, Nadihal, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer (CAHO), Dr G A Lone detailed to him about the role of JKMPCL in the marketing intervention of the dairy farms of the district.

At Harmukh Dairy Farm, officers informed that the farm possesses 20 Dairy Cow units established under IDDS Scheme, Dr Owais interacted with its Owner Aijaz Ahmad who is a Post Graduate and has left the job of Contractual lecturer to start his own business venture.

Dr Owais was impressed to see highly productive stock and profitable status of the farm and expressed happiness to see that educated youth of the district are setting up such ventures to generate a sound source of income besides the employment generation at the units.

During the visit to the Insha Frozen Foods unit at Nesbal, officers were informed that the Unit had been augmented under the IPDP scheme of the department.

Dr Owais interacted with its owner Muddasir Amin (MBA). He expressed satisfaction over the success of the project with an educated entrepreneur running it profitably besides generating huge employment at the unit.

Later, Dr Owais visited Salsabeel Paneer making Unit at Asham, established under IDDS Scheme of the Department. Dr Owais interacted with its owner Basher Sidiq.

Sidiq detailed the DC about all the machinery components and the steps involved in making of packaged paneer. He was impressed that the District has its own brand of Paneer and Curd which is sold both in this district but others as well.

The DC concluded his visit with the distribution of appreciation certificates among the Dairy/Poultry units’ holders.

He appreciated the efforts of the Department of Animal Husbandry Bandipora in general and CAHO Bandipora in particular in the establishment and functioning of such wonderful units in the district due to which the district has achieved record production of about 3 lakh litres of milk per day.

He appreciated the Department’s achievement in establishing 72 Dairy units under IDDS, 18 Units under IPDP during the current financial year, generating more than 270 employment avenues.

Dr Owais stressed upon the establishment of more milk processing and packaging units in the district under IDDS besides Milk ATMs.

CAHO assured Dr Owais that the Department of Animal Husbandry Bandipora will make efforts in doubling the number of Dairy and Poultry units in the district with a special focus on Milk Processing and Packaging units.

Concluding the visit, DC appealed to the educated youth of the district to avail the benefits of the schemes of the Department of Animal Husbandry in setting up Dairy/Poultry units to start their own business ventures.

The DC was accompanied by Chief Animal Husbandry Officer and other officers during the visit.
