Navin Choudhary sets deadlines for farmer welfare delivery

Jammu, Mar 29: Principal Secretary Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, Navin Kumar Choudhary, has called for achieving hundred percent coverage under flagship farmers’ welfare schemes of Government of India.

Navin Choudhary, while chairing a meeting of the department held in this regard, set deadline for achieving complete saturation under schemes like PM KISAN, PM Fasal Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan-Dhan Yojana besides providing Soil Health Cards and Kisan Credit Cards to all farmers of the UT.

Principal Secretary directed the officers to ensure that all farmers be issued Soil Health Cards by May 31, this year. In this regard, he asked the Joint Director to monitor progress in districts and submit consolidated reports on daily basis.

Principal Secretary asked for verifying all pending applications under PM by April 20. He also directed for disposal of every new application within a period of 30 days with uploading of the respective data on government’s portal. He said the district officers would be held accountable for any kind of delay in the process.

Navin Choudhary, while reviewing PM Fasal Bima Yojana, stressed the need for adopting cost efficient tendering process. He suggested that separate tenders be issued for different crop varieties.

He called for issuance of Kisan Credit Cards to all farmers including orchardists and dairy farmers of the UT by April 20 this year.  He also set deadline of May 31 for providing benefits under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan-Dhan Yojana scheme to respective beneficiaries.

The meeting was attended by heads of agriculture department among other senior officers.
