MC Budgam launches massive sanitation awareness drive in Budgam Town

Dustbins distributed among households at Ompora Colony, locals sensitized on proper segregation of waste material

Budgam, Mar 26: The Municipal Committee (MC), Budgam today launched a massive sanitation awareness drive at Housing Colony Ompora.

On the occasion, the President MC Budgam, Mehrajudin Dar and Executive Officer MC Budgam, Nazir Ahmad distributed dustbins among the locals for proper disposal of garbage, generated by households on a daily basis.

Various resource-persons, spoke on the occasion, sensitized locals on the importance of cleanliness and maintenance of the sanitation, besides segregation of waste material, right from their homes.

They stressed on use of separate dustbins for proper segregation management of both liquid and solid waste material.

President MC, Mehrajudin, who was Chief Guest on the occasion, said that the awareness drive shall be carried out in all wards of Budgam Town, where people shall be given awareness on the need of sanitation and segregation.

He said that through such a programme, all issues related to sanitation, cleanliness and garbage lifting faced by the local residents are addressed on spot by the department concerned.

He said that the aim is to ensure people not only keep their households clean but also the surroundings too, besides avoid dumping of garbage roadside, drains or in other open areas.
