Shab-e-Baraat observed across J&K

Srinagar, Mar 19 :Shab-e-Baraat, the revered night of fortune, was observed with religious fervour by Muslims across Jammu and Kashmir last night.
In Kashmir, The night long prayers were held in various Masjids and shrines across J&K where religious scholars delivered sermons highlighting teachings of Islam and various aspects of life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). However, No Shab-e-Baraat congregation was held At Jamia Masjid Srinagar.
On the occasion, People also visited the graveyards till late in the night, offering Fateh-a-Khawani, seeking eternal peace to departed souls. Houses and religious places were illuminated.
During the night-long prayers people prayed for peace in Jammu and Kashmir and across the globe. Devotees said they were happy to offer prayers at major mosques and shrines after a gap of two years.
Authorities had made adequate arrangements in place for devotees who thronged Hazratbal and other shrines for night-long prayers.
“We had put all arrangements at place at every shrine. The devotees offered prayers and there was no complaint from any corner regarding the arrangements,” said Wakf Board official.
An official from divisional administration said that authorities were directed to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply.
It is to mention here that the holy night is observed by Muslims across sub-continent during the intervening night of 14 and 15 Sha’ban — the eight month of Islamic calendar.
