Katra: MVD team books scores of vehicles for overcharging, other violations
Reasi, Mar 19: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Reasi, ARTO Reasi today conducted extensive checking at different places of Katra Town and compounded scores of passenger vehicles for overcharging of fare.
“Based on a number of complaints received for overcharging from pilgrims, ARTO Reasi ,Rajesh Gupta conducted on the spot checking in and around Katra town. During the extensive checking, the team challaned 58 Vehicles for overcharging & other violations and imposed a fine of Rs 2.0 lakh, 41 other vehicles were compounded and a sum amounting to Rs 41000 was recovered on the spot. Five vehicles including 3 motor cycles and two autos were seized.
The ARTO asked the Rickshaw operators to display the fare list in the Autos for the convenience of the general public & especially for Vaishno Devi pilgrims.
The ARTO also sensitised the drivers about Motor vehicle Act and urged upon them to follow the traffic rules to ensure their own as well as the safety of the others.
