Officials rush to spot after landowner bars students, staff from entering the school, demands permanent job

Ganderbal, Mar 17 : The two brothers owing land of a government school denied entry to staff and students inside the school on Thursday in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

The siblings Zahoor Ahmed Chouhan and Manzoor Ahmed Chouhan claimed that after offering 3 kanals land for the construction of government middle school at Ramwari Gund area of Kangan, they were promised a government job, and even after 4 decades, the government didn’t fulfill its promise.

This was the second incident in the Hariganwan Education Zone. Last week, students were forced to take classes in open on the same pretext after the landowner locked the gate of the middle school in Razen Gund area of Kangan.

Headmaster Government Middle School Ramwari Javaid Ahmed Malla told news agency  that the two sons of the deceased landowner locked the gate of the school and barred students and staff from entering the school, saying that they have been deceived by the Education Department.

“We hope the government will not let these two brothers down and will resolve this issue amicably,” Malla added.

After receiving information, Tehsildar Gund Javaid Iqbal and Zonal Education Officer Hariganiwan Muhammad Maqbool rushed to the spot and pacified the landowners. The officials assured the landowners that the matter will be taken up with authorities and will be sorted out without any delay.

The two brothers who own the land said that their father Nizamuddin Chouhan offered the land for the school after he was assured a government job. “Our father passed away drawing Rs 250 per month. I was given a Chowkidar cum sweeper job on a meager sum of Rs 250. How long I will wait,” one of the brothers Zahoor Ahmed said.

After the intervention of Tehsildar and ZEO, normal work in the school started as per routine.
