District Administration Srinagar conducts inspection of petrol pumps in the city

Notices issued to several stations to make up the prescribed deficiencies within 15 days

Srinagar, Mar 12: In order to ascertain the correctness of deliveries of dispensing units at City petrol pumps, a team of senior Officers of District Administration Srinagar Saturday undertook a special drive in various areas of the District.

The surprise drive was launched on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz  Asad to ensure statutory compliance of basic amenities at the petrol pumps.

The team inspected petrol pumps at M.A Road, Dalgate, Sonwar, Pantha Chowk, Lasjan, Nowgam and other areas of the District.

During the inspection, it was found at various petrol pumps that there were no separate washrooms for ladies, free air service, no firefighting equipment installed within the petrol pump areas.

During the course of inspection owners of various petrol pumps were issued notices to make up for the deficiencies by ensuring all necessary facilities for the customers as per laid guidelines at the petrol pumps.

The inspection team directed the management of the Filling Stations to follow the Oil Marketing Guidelines in letter and spirit and ensure basic facilities to the commuters, besides ensuring quality service to the customers with accuracy of readings and quantum of petrol sold.
