Forest Guard Suspended After Illicit Timber Recovered In Kupwara

Srinagar, Mar 10 : Authorities on Thursday placed under suspension a forest guard after recovery of illicit timber in Kupwara district of north Kashmir.

“Consequent upon receipt of reports regarding seizure of about 90 cfts of Kail timber (sawn), outturn of 03 damaged trees, in compartment 79/NL of Doban Beat of Khurhama Block and prima facie active connivance of concerned field staff in the listed-up forest damages, pending departmental enquiry, Mohd Abass Khan, Forest Guard (l/C Beat Guard, Doban Beat) is hereby placed under suspension,” Divisional Forest Officer Kamraj Forest Division Zagli Kupwara said in an order, a copy of which is with GNS. Khan has been attached to Forest Check Post, Kulangam with immediate effect.

“Fairoz Ahmad Marazi, Range Officer, North Lolab will conduct in-depth enquiry in the matter and submit his report after conducting thorough checking of the entire concerned forests within 03 days positively,” the order added.
