Sgr grenade explosion: Have got solid leads, will bust module very soon, says DGP Dilbagh Singh

Says few suspects undergoing questioning; two women battalions being raised soon; women playing pivotal role in policing; People have every right to peaceful protest, our concern is protest shouldn’t take violent turn; Waiting for final FSL report to find whether air-dropped explosives in Jammu were chemical in nature

Jammu, Mar 8: Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh said that police will very soon bust the module involved in the Srinagar grenade explosion that claimed two lives as a few suspects are undergoing questioning while solid leads have been found.

He also said that two women battalions of J&KP will be raised soon and in future more posts will be created for women cops. Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function at Kathua district of Jammu, the DGP said that police have got solid leads into the Srinagar grenade explosion in which an elderly man and a teenage girl was killed while 23 others sustained injuries.

“We have got solid leads. A few suspects are being questioned and we will bust the module behind grenade throwing very soon,” DGP Singh said as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). He said that last year 85 modules that were involved in grenade throwing and civilian killings were busted and this year too dozens of such modules were cracked.

To a query about more women battalions, the DGP Singh said that two women battalions will be raised very soon and more posts will be created for women cops. “In early 90’s, when SoG was formed, many women officials joined the police force. Today, there is hardly any district where we don’t have women police officers and cops. Women police are playing a very important role and are working shoulder to shoulder with policemen on every front,” he said.

Replying to a query, the DGP said that recently explosive material was airdropped in Jammu and police were waiting for a final report as to whether the liquid explosives were chemical in nature. “Let the final FSL report come and only then we will be comment on this issue further,” he said.
