J&K WDC organizes Mega Awareness Camp/ Loan Mela to commemorate International Women’s Day’

Srinagar, Mar 8: To mark the celebration of ‘International Women’s Day’, the Jammu and Kashmir Women’s Development Corporation (WDC) today organized a Mega Awareness Camp cum Loan Mela at its newly constructed office complex at SDA Colony, Bemina.

The programme was sponsored by National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (NMDFC) Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India.

Almost 300 members from various Self Help Groups (SHGs) from far-flung areas of Ganderbal, Budgam and Srinagar participated in this function.

The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Naheed Soz, Managing Director Women’s Development Corporation.

In her welcome address, Dr Naheed highlighted various activities and achievements of Women’s Development Corporation which has immensely contributed towards the empowerment of women.

She laid thrust on the importance of different viable activities and its market availability  through the exhibitions conducted by WDC within and outside the Union Territory  and requested the gathering to come forward and work in unison for their rights so that they can stand on their own feet.

Dr Naheed focused on the important role that women play as a mother, sister as well as better half of man and expressed that woman empowerment would lead to political and social justice once two wheels of human cycle move together.

She further added that the success of few women cannot be attributed to all, thus we need to empower each woman in J&K. She laid great stress on to break the bias, a theme of International Women’s Day this year.

District Managers and beneficiaries who have been economically empowered by WDC also spoke on the occasion.
