Security lifted from late Geelani’s residence in Srinagar

Srinagar,  04-March: Authorities have removed security personnel from late Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani’s house.
Sources told CNs that the security personnel present outside the house of the late leader was removed on late Thursday night.
Separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani had passed away at his Hyderpora residence on September 1, last year.
Before and after the passing away of Syed Ali Geelani, security personnel used to remain present outside the house and road.
Sources said that only family members and relatives were allowed to enter the house after the demise of the nonagenarian leader, however, the security has been lifted now completely.
However, grave of late Syed Ali Geelani is still being guarded by the security personnel.
Pertinently Geelani spent around two decades in jail. He was largely confined to his residence because of ill-health since 2010. He was put under house arrest again ahead of the controversial nullification of Jammu and Kashmir’s semi-autonomous status in 2019 till his death. (CNS)
