DC Samba calls for Zero tolerance against illegal mining

Chairs DLTFC meeting to review geology and mining activities

Samba, Mar 2: Deputy Commissioner Samba, Anuradha Gupta today called for following the zero tolerance policy against illegal mining.

The DC was chairing the meeting of district level and Tehsil level task force committee on geology and mining activities. She called for keeping close check on illegal extraction, transportation and dumping/storage of minor minerals.

The Deputy commissioner directed to formulate a comprehensive plan of action for monitoring and regulations of the mining activities by the Tehsil level task force and ensuring that minor minerals are made available legally to the consumers at the  rates fixed by authorities.

The meeting was attended by SSP Samba Abhishek Gupta; ADC Suram Sharma; ACR Ravinder Kumar; DMO M. Sayeed; SDM Vijaypur Vinay Sharma & SDM Ghagwal Ramkesh, besides  all Tehsildars, SHOs, Forest Range officers, officers and officials of Legal metrology, flood control and Geology and mining.

The DC Samba exhorted upon the field officers to identify the areas which have not yet been notified and have mineral resources.

Instructions were also passed on for larger publicity of the rates notified by the district level Committee, including transportation charges so that the end consumer get the minor mineral at a reasonable rate which is notified by the government.

The DC Samba, while reviewing the grievances, instructed for setting up of a facilitation cum information dissemination centre in Samba for the citizens.

“Due care should be taken while extraction of minor minerals from lease area and environmental protection & rejuvenation activities be also carried out for a sustainable developmental activities beside ensuring the material scarcity shouldn’t be created” added DC Samba.
