Dogri Cultural Program for promotion of languages, Art & Culture organised at Udhampur

Udhampur, Feb 25: Nehru Yuva Kendra Udhampur, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India today organised “Promotion of Language, Art & Culture” programme in collaboration with District Information Centre Udhampur, here at Town Hall Udhampur.

 

 Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Syed Khan was the chief guest, while District Information Officer, Rajinder Kumar Digra was the guest of honour and District Youth Officer, Nehru Yuva Kendra Khushal Gupta presided over the programme.

Around 200 members of different youth clubs and educational institutions participated with great fervour and gaiety.

At the outset, the traditional lamp was lit by the Chief Guest Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohd Syed Khan, DMO, Salam Din, DIO, Rajinder Kumar Digra and DYO Khushal Gupta. It was followed by the welcome address by  Khushal Gupta. He welcomed the guests, jury members and the participants of different institutions & clubs.

The DYO said the motive behind organising such programs was to provide youth a platform to display and showcase their talent at district level. The participant teams belonged to GDC Boys, Government College for Women,  Shivalik College of Education, Government Higher Secondary School (Boys),  Government Higher Secondary School (Girls), Government Higher Secondary School Tikri and KC Gurukul . In addition,  Bhartiya Kala Manch and Sidhhi Vinayak Dance Academy presented guest presentations.

 Speaking on the occasion, the DIO  encouraged the participants and urged the youth to contribute towards Dogri language preservation & nation building. He stressed upon the initiatives being taken by the District Administration in promoting local culture.  .

District Mineral Officer, Salam Din also motivated the youngsters and applauded them for promoting the local culture and tradition.

Later, the winning teams were awarded with participation certificates.

Advocate Swatantar Dev  Kotwal (Dy. Chief Warden, Civil Defence),  Navdeep Kour (Career Counselor) and Rakesh Sharma (Cultural Assistant) acted as judges.

The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Khushal Gupta.
