District level orientation programme on Communicable Diseases held at Shopian

Shopian, Feb 22: One day orientation programme for PRIs regarding communicable disease under IDSP was held today at Mini Secretariat, here under the supervision of Chief Medical Officer Shopian.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmed Simnani was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

Simnani said that the main aim of the training programme is to highlight the role of PRIs at Panchayat level in curbing the outbreak of communicable diseases. He added that PRIs play an important role in water surveillance by having close coordination with the IDSP unit for ascertaining the waterborne diseases and also help the health department in implementing the IHIP at grass-root level.

During the training programme the Microbiologist made PRIs aware regarding newly established DPHL at DH Shopian where various types of investigation and tests are done.

IDSP unit Shopian was also appreciated for good performance during Covid-19 Pandemic.

The DIO and BMO defined the role of IDSP and gave awareness regarding water borne disease as well as outbreak investigation through PPT.

Later, a book of pamphlets was also released by ADC and CMO and the numbers of copies were also distributed among the participants to make them aware of communicable disease.

The book was designed by Dr.Manzoor Qadri, Deputy Director Schemes and Programme Manager, IDSP, Shopian, Zubair Ahmed.

Among others, DDC Members, DIO Shopian, BMO, Sarpanchs and Panchs of various panchayat halqas and other concerned were present.
