Militant, 2 soldiers killed in ongoing Shopian encounter

Shopian, Feb 19: In the ongoing encounter in South Kashmir’s Shopian village a militant and two soldiers have been killed.

Earlier, Joint Forces including the soldiers from 1 Rashtriya Rifles had cordoned off Chermarg Zainapora area of Shopian after receiving inputs about the presence of militants.

Police confirmed the killed of a militant in the initial exchange of fire.

Official sources said that two soldiers sustained injuries who were shifted to 92 Base Army Hospital at Badami Bagh Srinagar where they succumbed to their injuries.

Sources identified the slain soldiers as Santosh Yadav and Romit Chuhan.

The gunfight was going on till the filing of this report.
