Bandipora, Feb 19:BJP JK spokesman Altaf Thakur today said that delimitation has rectified historical blunders and will ensure equal rights to voters of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Addition of 6 seats to Jammu and 1 to Kashmir has set right the true democracy in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said addressing press conference at Bandipora.
He said that empowered Jammu will compete and March ahead with Kashmir leading to peace progress and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir
“Criterion applied by Delimitation Commission has distributed seats proportionate to population subject to application norms of law like geographic terrain connectivity communication etc,” he said
Thakur said BJP was thankful to Delimitation Commission for huge and pro people exercise and decision taken which has come out in the shape of draft report
“New Parliamentary Constituency Rajouri Poonch Anantnag will stabilize Nationalistic voices in the constituency. Radical , separatists of South Kashmir will be electorically countered and balanced by Nationalistic voices from Rajouri Poonch . This Constituency which is carved out is also justified as all Parliamentary Constituencies are now spread equally to 18 Assembly Constituencies or so . It will also lead to more compatability and understanding between two provinces and new political vistas to people of Poonch Rajouri leading to their empowerment,” he said
“New Constituencies carved out will bring development to the door steps of the ignored and political marginalized. Areas like Paddar will see real developments for first time with their own Constituency,” Thakur said
He said that there are some issues in some areas which are justified in some cases . While carving out Constituencies and reserving then uniform principles have been followed but even then there are some areas where aspirations of people are not met .
He said thay delimitation commission is independent Constitutional body headed by former Supreme Court Judge which has taken decisions appropriate to its stature . It has heard and taken into consideration point of view of everyone.
