Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu visits Advanced Centre for Rainfed Agriculture

Jammu, Feb 17: Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu, Prof. J. P. Sharma today visited Advanced Centre for Rainfed Agriculture (ACRA) , Rakh Dhiansar to take stock of research, extension and developmental activities being carried out at the Centre.

He was accompanied by Dr S.K Gupta, Registrar SKUAST- J, Dr Pradeep Wali, Director Research, Dr Bikram Singh, Dean FOA and Er. Iqbal Singh, Executive Engineer, SKUAST-J .

At the outset, Dr. A. P. Singh, Incharge, ACRA briefed about the  research, extension and developmental activities going on under All India Coordinated Research Project on Dryland Agriculture(AICRPDA), National Innovations on Climate Resilient Agriculture Project, University Funded Research Programmes, Volunteer Centres of AICRPs on Bio-Control, Pigeon pea and Pearl millet, Rainfed Integrated Farming Systems (RIFS) and Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan (SCSP).

Vice Chancellor Prof. J. P. Sharma interacted with the Scientific staff of ACRA, Rakh Dhiansar and expressed his satisfaction over the efforts being made by the centre in the research and other activities.

Prof. Sharma was apprised about the progress made with respect to infrastructure development at ACRA, Rakh Dhiansar. The Vice Chancellor instructed the concerned officer to take up more renovation/infrastructure developmental works required for accommodating the ACRA staff.  He directed the scientists to formulate and design their research programmes while relating their research with the local issues to ensure tangible benefits to the farmers of the domain for their economic upliftment.

Dr. Reena, Dr. Jai Kumar, Dr. Sonika Jamwal, Dr. A. C. Jha, Dr. Brinder Singh, Dr Rohit Sharma and  Dr. Vikas Gupta were also present  during the visit of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-J.
