Kishtwar admin bracing up for hosting 2-day cultural festival

DC reviews preparedness of concerned departments

Kishtwar, Feb 15: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar Ashok Kumar Sharma today chaired a meeting of concerned officers to review the arrangements for conduct of Cultural Festival here under ‘Promotion of Traditional and Cultural Festivals of J&K” campaign.

Threadbare discussion was held on various aspects of the arrangements related to the successful conduct of the 2 day festival besides various decisions were taken in the meeting and responsibilities were allotted to different departments.

The meeting decided that the venue for the conduct of the Festival shall be at  historical Prade ground Chowgan  and shall last for two days.

Deputy Commissioner  directed the concerned departments to work in earnest to make timely arrangements with regard to the establishment of the festival venue and other related arrangements, security, uninterrupted power and water supply and power back up, medical facilities, boarding and lodging of participants etc.

The meeting was informed that the Government has approved 12 major festivals which shall be observed/ celebrated during the first three months (Jan-March) 2022 in the Jammu division. Out of these festivals, one Composite Cultural Festival has got approved in respect of district Kishtwar  which is scheduled to be celebrated on 5th and 6th March 2022.

The DC directed the concerned officers to ensure that a comprehensive and holistic action plan shall be chalked out for the smooth conduct of this festival in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner also  impressed upon all concerned departments to ensure that all necessary arrangements are put in place well in time to ensure smooth and hassle free conduct of the festival.

A festival of this scale is proposed to revive/rejuvenate the cultural ethos of the area,he maintained.
