DC Kupwara chairs Municipal Diwas at Langate

Appeals people to follow CAB religiously

Kupwara, Feb 9: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din today chaired a day long Municipal Diwas and Grievance Redressal Camp at Town Hall Langate.

BDC Chairperson Langate, Showkat Hassan Pandit, Tehsildar, BDO, Executive Engineers of R&B, PHE and PDD, sectoral officers and citizens participated in the Municipal diwas with adherence of Covid appropriate behaviour (CAB).

In his address, the DC said that the objective of holding Municipal Diwas is to listen and address the developmental issues of the people living in towns.

He said that the augmentation of water and power supply is among the top priorities of the Government adding that the ambitious Jal Jeevan Mission programme is being implemented and every household will get taped water connection by August 2022.

Regarding power supply, the DC said that the power scenario is getting improved day by day with augmentation of various Receiving Stations and transformers in the district.

Earlier, DDC Member, BDC Chairperson, councilors also spoke and raised various issues with regard to their local requirements.

The DC gave them patient hearing and assured that all genuine demands shall be fulfilled in a time bound manner.

District Officers on the occasion spoke and provided awareness of schemes of their concerned departments, besides, replied to the queries raised.

On the occasion, the DC highlighted the need for implementation of Covid appropriate behaviour in view of the spike in the Covid and omicron cases in the UT.

He exhorted the people to follow Covid appropriate behaviour and other SOPs religiously to keep the pandemic at bay.

DDC Member, BDC Langate, District and Sectoral officers, besides, PRIs attended the day-long programme.

Later, the DC took a detailed tour of the Langate block and inspected various ongoing developmental works. He also inaugurated Health and Wellness Centres at Shanoo and Prungroo.

During his visit, the DC inspected Government High School Shanoo, Health and Wellness Centre Shatgund Bala, NTPHC Qalamabad, NTPHC Lash and took stock of the functioning of these Centres.

Meanwhile, Block Diwas was also held at border sub division Karnah where Tehsildar Karnah presided over the programme.
