Over 1.56 lakh Unorganised Workers registered on e-SHRAM Portal in Srinagar

Srinagar, Feb 01: In order to ensure all Un-Organised Workers of Srinagar District are registered on e-SHRAM Portal, the District Administration Srinagar Tuesday held an Interactive-cum-Awareness session with representatives of Un-organised sector Unions here at DC Office Complex Srinagar.

The programme was held on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad to ensure benefits of all Government Security schemes reaches to registered Un-organised Workers and their families in the District.

On the occasion, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Syed Hanief Balkhi, who presided over the programme interacted with the representatives of various Un-organised sector Unions including Construction Workers, Motor Transport and Shikara Walla Associations.

The ADC stressed the officers present on the occasion to ensure holding of regular registration camps at the district and CSC level for the unorganised workers. He said such awareness camps would prove helpful to disseminate Information, Education and Communication (IEC) amongst the prospective beneficiaries of e-SHRAM and their implementation through the Labour and Employment Department and other Official machinery.

The ADC also stressed the representatives of various Un-Organised Workers Unions and Associations present in the meeting to convince and mobilise their respective members to register under the e-SHRAM portal to get benefits under different Social Security schemes of the Government.

He further asked the concerned officers to work in proper coordination in monitoring and mobilisation of target sub-groups of unorganised workers. He also asked for mobilization of these workers for registering at Panchayat level.

Earlier, Assistant Commissioner Labour Department, Arshid Qadir gave a detailed presentation about the use and benefits of the e-SHRAM Portal. He informed that till date as many as 156423 Un-organised Workers have been registered in Srinagar district since the launch of the e-SHRAM portal and further registrations are going on so that all left out beneficiaries are covered for the Government benefits.

The ALC further informed the participants that it is the first-ever National Database of Unorganised Workers (NDUW) created by Ministry of Labour and Employment to register the Un-organized Workers in diverse occupations including Migrant workers, Construction workers, Domestic help, ASHA and Anganwadi workers, Street vendors, Salesmen, Rickshaw pullers, Farmers, Agricultural labourers, Animal husbandry workers, Barbers, Weavers, Carpenters, Brick kiln, Quarry workers, Saw mill workers, Vegetable and Fruit vendors, Newspapers Hawkers, Auto drivers, Sericulture workers, housemaids and other such workers to get benefits of the Government schemes.

He informed that any worker who has been working in any un-Organised sector aged between 16-59 years would be eligible to register on the e-SHARM Portal and after registering on e-SHRAM Portal the beneficiary will get accidental insurance cover including permanent disability of Rs 2 Lakh and Rs 1 Lakh for partial disability.

General Manager DIC, District Social Welfare Officer, District Panchayat Officer, besides officers of Fisheries, Agriculture and other Departments were present on the occasion.
