On Republic Day : Forest Department Anantnag Range Kokernag conducts plantation drive

Anantnag,Jan 26: A head of of the celebration of 73th Republic Day Forest Department Anantnag Range Kokernag carried out a plantation drive in Kokernag. The drive was conducted at Club Park Budget Accomodiation and Fish farm Kokernag.
Many plants were planted during the tree planting campaign on the occasion
Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Dr.Piyush Singla,SDM Kokernag, Er. Sarib Sehran, BDC chairperson Block Breng Parveena Akhter,President MC Kokernag Prince Ahmad Sheikh, Tehsildar Kokernag, BDO Kokernag Tariq Ahmad,Range Officer Kokernag Peerzada Riyaz Ahmad ,Ranger Officer Vailoo Mohd Iqbal & as well as senior journalists of South Kashmir Shah Hilal, Arif wani  also took part in the campaign.
“One Beat  Guard One Village ” program was conducted by BO Kokernag Syed Mohd Yousuf, Beat guard Feroz Ahmad Wani of Kokernag Forest Range.Kairo,Medicinal Fodder and Deodar plants were also distributed among the participants.
The People overwhelmingly welcomed this innovative step of the forest department. They said, it is the first time the forest department came to provide the planting material at their door steps. They will care for the plants as well as forests of adjoining areas. This step will create a bond between villagers and the forest department.
On this occasion SDM Kokernag Er. Sarib Sehran suggested that the forest department should start similar plantation drives along with distribution of plants to locals in other forest fringe villages of this hilly region also for maintaining green cover of the area.Sarib said, Ecological balance can be maintained.He said that the drive is being carried out to prevent erosion on river banks. He appealed to the people to carry out similar plantation drives at the local level.
He said that while under Green JK drive, the department has been carrying out extensive plantation in the district, under River India special focus is on plantation in the vicinity of our rivers to reduce soil erosion and increase the green cover.
SDM also appealed to the people of Kokernag to plant as many plants as possible to keep their environment clean and tidy.
